AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1496

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1496  by replacing

everything after the enacting clause with the following:

    "Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic 
5
Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is 
6
amended  by adding Section 605-975 as follows:

    (20 ILCS 605/605-975  new)
8
    Sec. 605-975. Community database.  Subject to 
9
appropriation, the Department may create a web-accessible and 
10
searchable database containing profiles for municipalities and 
11
counties in the State.  The database may include relevant labor 
12
market information, including information regarding access to 
13
transportation, availability of skilled labor, labor costs, 
14
properties ready for development, tax rates coupled with State 
15
and local incentives, access to telecommunications

infrastructure, access to major markets, access to raw 
2
materials and suppliers, operating costs, and other data 
3
relevant to businesses considering locating in Illinois.  
4
Municipalities and counties shall be encouraged to submit data 
5
to the Department for entry into the database.".
