AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1825

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1825 by replacing

everything after the enacting clause with the following:

    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
5
2-3.142 as follows:
 
6
    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.142  new)
7
    Sec. 2-3.142. Autism scholarship program study. The State 
8
Board of Education shall conduct a study and compile data 
9
concerning the implementation and administration of an autism 
10
scholarship program to support individuals with autism.  The 
11
study shall, at a minimum, address each of the following areas:
12
        (1) The means and methods for the implementation and 
13
    operation of an autism scholarship program in Illinois.
14
        (2) The possible impact on those students who may be 
15
    eligible for a scholarship under the program.
16
        (3) The possible impact of the program on schools and

    school districts.

        (4) The possible impact of the program on those 
3
    students who are not eligible for a scholarship.
4
        (5) The estimated costs of implementing and operating 
5
    the program.

    The State Board must report the findings of the study to 
7
the General Assembly on or before January 1, 2008.
8
    This Section is repealed on January 2, 2008.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
10
becoming law.".
