| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |

| 34-18.37 as follows:

| (105 ILCS 5/34-18.37 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 34-18.37. Supervision of high schools. Each high |
| 8 |
| school in the district must be under the direct supervision of |
| 9 |
| the general superintendent of schools or his or her central |
| 10 |
| office designee. A high school is prohibited from being |
| 11 |
| operated under the supervision of an area management support |
| 12 |
| director or an area instruction officer.".
