| whom shall be the Administrative Director of the Illinois |

| Courts. Two shall be appointed by the Court; 2 shall be |
3 |
| appointed by the Governor; 2 shall be appointed by the |
4 |
| President of the Senate; and 2 shall be appointed by the |
5 |
| Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Court shall |
6 |
| designate one member of the Commission as chairperson. |

| (c) The terms of the initial appointed commissioners shall |
8 |
| commence upon qualification. Each appointing authority shall |
9 |
| designate one appointee who shall serve for a 2-year term |
10 |
| running through June 30, 2009. Each appointing authority shall |
11 |
| designate one appointee who shall serve for a 4-year term |
12 |
| running through June 30, 2011. The initial appointments shall |
13 |
| be made within 60 days after the effective date of this Act. |
14 |
| (d) After the initial terms, commissioners shall serve for |
15 |
| 4-year terms commencing on July 1 of the year of appointment |
16 |
| and running through June 30 of the fourth following year. |

| Commissioners may be reappointed to one or more subsequent |
18 |
| terms. |

| (e) Vacancies occurring other than at the end of a term |
20 |
| shall be filled by the appointing
authority only for the |
21 |
| balance of the term of the commissioner whose office is vacant. |
22 |
| (f) Terms shall run regardless of whether the position is |
23 |
| filled. |
24 |
| (g) The members of the Commission shall receive no |
25 |
| compensation for their service, except for their actual |
26 |
| expenses while in the discharge of their official duties. |

| Section 15. Commission policy, powers, and duties. The |
2 |
| Commission shall assist and advise the Court in regard to the |
3 |
| acquisition, collection, documentation, preservation, |
4 |
| cataloging, and related matters with respect to historic |
5 |
| aspects of buildings, objects, artifacts, documents, and |
6 |
| information, regardless of form, relating to the Illinois |
7 |
| judiciary. |

| Section 20. Supreme Court Historic Preservation Fund. The |
9 |
| Supreme Court Historic Preservation Fund is created as a |
10 |
| special fund in the State treasury. All monies received by the |
11 |
| Commission, including but not limited to, grants, gifts, |
12 |
| donations, bequests, fees, admissions, sales, and concessions, |
13 |
| from any source, including private, public, governmental, and |
14 |
| individual, shall be deposited into the Supreme Court Historic |
15 |
| Preservation Fund. Subject to appropriation, the monies in the |
16 |
| fund shall be used by the Commission as deemed appropriate for |
17 |
| historic preservation and related purposes, including the |
18 |
| hiring of necessary staff. |

| Section 25. Annual Report. The Commission shall provide a |
20 |
| report of its fiscal and programmatic activities to the Court, |
21 |
| the Governor, and the General Assembly, on or before January |
22 |
| 31, 2008, and annually thereafter. |
