| AN ACT concerning criminal law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Sex Offender Registration Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing Section 9 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (730 ILCS 150/9) (from Ch. 38, par. 229)

| Sec. 9. Public inspection of registration data. Except as
|
| 8 |
| provided in the
the Sex Offender Community
Notification Law,
|
| 9 |
| the statements or any other information required by this |
| 10 |
| Article shall not be
open to inspection by the public, or by |
| 11 |
| any person other than by a law
enforcement officer or other |
| 12 |
| individual as may be authorized by law and shall
include law |
| 13 |
| enforcement agencies of this State, any other state, or of the
|
| 14 |
| federal government. Similar information may be requested from |
| 15 |
| any law
enforcement agency of another state or of the federal |
| 16 |
| government for purposes
of this Act. It is a Class B |
| 17 |
| misdemeanor to permit the unauthorized release of
any |
| 18 |
| information required by this Article. |
