| AN ACT concerning safety.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Alternate Fuels Act is amended by changing |
| 5 |
| Section 20 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (415 ILCS 120/20)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 20. Rules. Rules implementing Section 30 of this Act |
| 8 |
| shall include, but
are not limited to, calculation of fuel cost
|
| 9 |
| differential rebates and
and designation of acceptable |
| 10 |
| conversion
and OEM technologies. |
| 11 |
| In designating acceptable conversion or OEM technologies,
|
| 12 |
| the Agency shall favor, when available,
technology that is in |
| 13 |
| compliance with the federal Clean Air Act
Amendments of 1990 |
| 14 |
| and applicable implementing federal
regulations. Conversion |
| 15 |
| and OEM technologies that demonstrate
emission reduction |
| 16 |
| capabilities that meet or exceed emission
standards applicable |
| 17 |
| for the vehicle's model year and weight
class shall be |
| 18 |
| acceptable. Standards requiring proper
installation of |
| 19 |
| approved conversion technologies shall be
included in the |
| 20 |
| recommended rules.

| Notwithstanding the above, engines used in alternate fuel
|
| 22 |
| vehicles greater than 8500 pounds GVWR, whether new or
|
| 23 |
| remanufactured, shall meet the appropriate United States
|
