| AN ACT concerning local government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 |
| 5-1065.5 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (55 ILCS 5/5-1065.5 new)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 5-1065.5. Landlord regulation. The county board of any |
| 8 |
| county may license and regulate landlords, as defined by the |
| 9 |
| county board, within the unincorporated areas of that county.

| Section 10. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by |
| 11 |
| adding Section 11-5.4-1 as follows:

| 13 |
| Sec. 11-5.4-1. Landlord regulation. The corporate |
| 14 |
| authorities of any municipality may license and regulate |
| 15 |
| landlords, as defined by the corporate authorities of the |
| 16 |
| municipality, within that municipality. |
