Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act. Provides that whenever the Department of Children and Family Services receives, by means of its statewide toll-free telephone number established for the purpose of reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, a report of a newborn infant whose blood, urine, or meconium contains any amount of cocaine, the Department must immediately report that information to the State's Attorney of the county in which the infant was born. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning children.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act is |
5 |
| amended by adding Section 4.4 as follows: |
6 |
| (325 ILCS 5/4.4 new) |

| Sec. 4.4. DCFS duty to report to State's Attorney. Whenever |
8 |
| the Department receives, by means of its statewide toll-free |
9 |
| telephone number established under Section 7.6 for the purpose |
10 |
| of reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, a report of a |
11 |
| newborn infant whose blood, urine, or meconium contains any |
12 |
| amount of cocaine, the Department must immediately report that |
13 |
| information to the State's Attorney of the county in which the |
14 |
| infant was born.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
16 |
| becoming law.
