Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that any policy or plan that provides coverage for the loss of use of a vehicle shall reimburse the insured for the rental of a substantially similar vehicle when the insured vehicle is under repair for a covered loss.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 143.10d as follows:
|

| (215 ILCS 5/143.10d new) |

| Sec. 143.10d. Loss of use coverage. Any policy or plan that |
| 8 |
| provides coverage for the loss of use of a vehicle shall |
| 9 |
| reimburse the insured for the rental of a substantially similar |
| 10 |
| vehicle when the insured vehicle is under repair for a covered |
| 11 |
| loss.
