| AN ACT concerning transportation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 4-102 as follows:
|

| Sec. 4-102. Offenses relating to motor vehicles and
and |
8 |
| other
vehicles - Misdemeanors. |

| (a) It is a violation of this Chapter for:
|
10 |
| (1) A person, without authority to do so, to damage a |
11 |
| vehicle or to
damage or remove any part of a vehicle;
|
12 |
| (2) A person, without authority to do so, to tamper |
13 |
| with a vehicle
or go in it, on it, or work or attempt to |
14 |
| work any of its parts, or set
or attempt to set it in |
15 |
| motion;
|
16 |
| (3) A person to fail to report a vehicle as unclaimed |
17 |
| in accordance
with the provisions of Section 4-107.
|
18 |
| (b) Sentence. A person convicted of a violation of this |
19 |
| Section shall
be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. A person |
20 |
| convicted of a violation of
this Section a second or subsequent |
21 |
| time, shall be guilty of a Class 4 felony.
