SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Appropriates $2,000,000 to the Department of Public Health from the General Revenue Fund to fund the activities and costs associated with the Universal Newborn Hearing Program. Effective July 1, 2008.

AN ACT concerning appropriations.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The sum of $2,000,000, or so much of that amount as necessary, is appropriated to the Department of Public Health from the General Revenue Fund to fund the activities and costs associated with the Universal Newborn Hearing Program. Of these dollars, $1,200,000 or 60% shall be provided to the University of Illinois Division of Specialized Care for Children and Department of Human Services Early Intervention Program through interagency agreements in order to fund portions of the Program related to diagnostic care or early intervention services for children identified as having potential hearing loss under the Program and for parent-to-parent involvement support. Expenditures of the dollars appropriated under this Act shall be reported to the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Advisory Committee created by the Hearing Screening for Newborns Act.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2008.
