Amends the School Code. Encourages the implementation in schools of International Baccalaureate Organization programs by providing that, subject to appropriation, the State Board of Education shall grant (i) a one-time $3,000 equipment grant for providing an international baccalaureate course, (ii) $100 for each student who scores a 4 or better on at least one international baccalaureate examination, and (iii) $650 for each student who graduates through the International Baccalaureate Organization's Diploma Program for the reimbursement of diploma costs, to be paid to a school based on need, as determined by the State Board.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 |
| 2-3.148 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (105 ILCS 5/2-3.148 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 2-3.148. International Baccalaureate Organization |
| 8 |
| course incentive. |
| 9 |
| (a) In this Section: |
| 10 |
| "International baccalaureate course" means a high school |
| 11 |
| level preparatory course for an international baccalaureate |
| 12 |
| examination that incorporates each topic specified by the |
| 13 |
| International Baccalaureate Organization on its standard |
| 14 |
| syllabus for a particular subject area. |
| 15 |
| "International baccalaureate examination" means the |
| 16 |
| international baccalaureate examination administered by the |
| 17 |
| International Baccalaureate Organization. |
| 18 |
| (b) Subject to appropriation, the State Board of Education |
| 19 |
| shall grant (i) a one-time $3,000 equipment grant for providing |
