Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that when an individual purchases a policy of accident and health insurance that is a high deductible plan with a health savings account, the individual may waive coverage for insurance mandates as required by the Code.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 355a.1 as follows:
|

| (215 ILCS 5/355a.1 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 355a.1. High deductible plans; mandates. An |
| 8 |
| individual that purchases a policy of accident and health |
| 9 |
| insurance that is a high deductible plan with a health savings |
| 10 |
| account may waive coverage for insurance mandates as required |
| 11 |
| by this Code.
