| HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Bobby E. Thompson has been a political figure in |
| 3 |
| the Lake County area for 18 years and was the first African |
| 4 |
| American mayor in the county, having served as mayor of North |
| 5 |
| Chicago; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The portion of Illinois State Route 137 in |
| 7 |
| Waukegan lying between Greenwood Avenue and Sheridan |
| 8 |
| Road/McKinley Avenue is now known as the Amstutz Expressway; |
| 9 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 11 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
| 12 |
| SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Amstutz Expressway be |
| 13 |
| renamed the Bobby E. Thompson Expressway; and be it further
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation |
| 15 |
| is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with |
| 16 |
| State regulations, plaques or signs giving notice of the name; |
| 17 |
| and be it further
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 19 |
| presented to the Illinois Secretary of Transportation and to |
| 20 |
| former North Chicago Mayor Bobby E. Thompson.
