| HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives and Illinois Senate wish to express their |
| 4 |
| sincere condolences to the family and friends of United States |
| 5 |
| Marine Corps veteran, Will County board member, and Fire Chief |
| 6 |
| Kerry R. Sheridan, who was taken suddenly on Tuesday, February |
| 7 |
| 12, 2008 at age 75 years; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, In honor of Kerry R. Sheridan and his dedication |
| 9 |
| to his work and country, his service as Fire Chief for 50 |
| 10 |
| years, his 25 years with the Will County Board, his service in |
| 11 |
| the United States Marine Corps, and his leadership in founding |
| 12 |
| the Volunteer Fire District in Troy Township, the Illinois |
| 13 |
| House of Representatives and Senate wish to rename a section of |
| 14 |
| highway in Sheridan's name; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, A portion of Illinois Route 59 passes through the |
| 16 |
| Village of Shorewood; therefore, be it
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
| 19 |
| SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the segment of Illinois Route 59 |
| 20 |
| within the corporate limits of the municipality of Shorewood be |
| 21 |
| designated as the Kerry R. Sheridan Highway in honor of this |
| 22 |
| great man; and be it further
