HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Terry Hill, Athletic Director of Danville High School, on the occasion of his retirement; and

WHEREAS, A 1968 graduate of Danville High School, Terry Hill returned to the school five years ago to head up the athletic department; he began his teaching career in Oakwood, Illinois before moving to Danville Area Community College (DACC); and

WHEREAS, While teaching and coaching at DACC, Terry Hill brought national recognition to the school, winning four national titles and earning four National Coach of the Year awards in the school's track and cross-country programs; his teams produced 51 regional championships, 151 All-Americans, and 88 Academic All-Americans; and

WHEREAS, Five years ago, Terry Hill began the task of overseeing 18 varsity sports programs and 42 separate teams at Danville High School; the job demands long hours, finding people to work at different sports functions in a variety of positions, scheduling all sports events, and monitoring students' academic eligibility and Illinois High School Association mandates; in addition, Terry Hill has had to oversee and raise money for an all-weather track project at the school; and

WHEREAS, Terry Hill plans on spending time on the golf course, playing poker, teaching his grandson how to hunt and fish, and possibly teaching at DACC; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Terry Hill on his decision to retire and wish him continued good success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Terry Hill.
