HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Chandra R. Walls is retiring from her position as Deputy Chief Probation Officer with the Circuit Court of Cook County, Juvenile Division after 32 years of service with the court; and

WHEREAS, She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and her Master of Arts degree from Northeastern University in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She began her career with the Circuit Court in April of 1969 as a Probation Officer 1, and she was promoted to Deputy Chief Probation officer in 2001; and

WHEREAS, As vice president of the Local, she was on the first negotiating team that brought the first collective bargaining agreement to the Juvenile Probation Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County; she served as Vice President of Local 3477 of the AFSCME labor union from 1990 to 2001; and

WHEREAS, Chandra Walls was one of the first to be certified in the Family Therapy Program; she was one of the first to volunteer for the Juvenile Advisory Committee; she served as co-chair of the Performance Appraisal Committee; and she also initiated the Girls Empowerment Program to Markham Circuit Court; and

WHEREAS, She is the wife of Charles, and together they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on December 11, 2006; she is the mother of Charles M. Walls and Monica Whitfield; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Chandra R. Walls for her many years of devoted service to the needs of children through her work at Juvenile Court, and we offer our congratulations to her on the occasion of her retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chandra Walls as an expression of our deepest respect and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
