HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, February is AMBUCS National Visibility Month; 
3
AMBUCS is a national service organization composed of a diverse 
4
group of men and women dedicated to creating mobility and 
5
independence for people with disabilities; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The AMBUCS Chapter in Danville has an active 
7
membership of over 100 people, working together to sponsor the 
8
Summer Sounds Concerts along with Downtown Danville, Inc., the 
9
AMBUCS Home and Business Expo, the First Citizen's Award, a two 
10
week summer camp for children with disabilities, and dances for 
11
adults with disabilities; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, In addition, AMBUCS in Danville sponsors the 
13
Challenger Baseball League and the Lose the Training Wheels 
14
Program; AMBUCS in Danville provides scholarships for students 
15
going into a therapy related field; and they sponsor The 
16
Danville Advocates, a Danville High School program where 
17
students provide assistance and activities for their fellow 
18
students with disabilities; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, The Danville Chapter has partnered with the City 
20
of Danville to build Playground for Everyone at Winter Park and 
21
the Boundless Playground at Lincoln Park, accessible parks for 
22
those with disabilities; and they are currently raising funds

to make a spray park next to the Garfield Pool; and

 
2
    WHEREAS, Other chapters across the State of Illinois focus 
3
on building ramps for those with disabilities and providing 
4
AmTrykes, therapeutic tricycles for children with 
5
disabilities; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, There are approximately 6,000 AMBUCS members in 
7
121 chapters in 18 states, with Illinois having 15 chapters; 
8
therefore, be it

 
9
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11
recognize the month of February as AMBUCS National Visibility 
12
Month and thank the men and women of AMBUCS for their hard work 
13
and devotion to making life better for those with disabilities; 
14
and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Janet Myers, President of the Danville AMBUCS 
17
Chapter.
