| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to honor Judge James M. Wexstten on | ||||||
| 4 | being named to fill the vacant position on the Fifth District | ||||||
| 5 | Appellate Court; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Judge Wexstten has served as the circuit judge in | ||||||
| 7 | the 13-county Second Judicial Circuit since 1988, and has been | ||||||
| 8 | elected judge twice; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Judge Wexstten is a graduate of Nokomis High | ||||||
| 10 | School, attended Kaskaskia College, and graduated from | ||||||
| 11 | Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with his bachelor's | ||||||
| 12 | and law degrees; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Judge Wexstten was "highly recommended" by a 2002 | ||||||
| 14 | Illinois State Bar Association judicial evaluation for the | ||||||
| 15 | office of justice of the appellate court, and his retention | ||||||
| 16 | numbers have been consistently high; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Judge Wexstten was admitted to practice law in | ||||||
| 18 | 1977; he also was admitted to practice in the United States | ||||||
| 19 | District Court/Southern District and the United States Court of | ||||||
| 20 | Appeals in the 7th District; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Judge Wexstten is the immediate past president of | ||||||
| 2 | the Illinois Judges Association, past president of the | ||||||
| 3 | Jefferson County Bar Association, and has served on numerous | ||||||
| 4 | Illinois State Bar Association and Supreme Court committees; | ||||||
| 5 | before becoming a judge, he was in private practice and served | ||||||
| 6 | as bankruptcy trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court | ||||||
| 7 | for the Southern District of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Judge Wexstten's appointment begins February 2, | ||||||
| 9 | 2007 and will end on December 1, 2008 when the position is | ||||||
| 10 | filled at the general election held in November of 2008; | ||||||
| 11 | therefore, be it

| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 14 | congratulate Judge James Wexstten on being named to fill the | ||||||
| 15 | position on the Fifth District Appellate Court; and be it | ||||||
| 16 | further

| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Judge Wexstten as an expression of our respect and | ||||||
