HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor the members of the Knights 
4
of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 of Joliet on the 
5
occasion of the 50th anniversary of the organization; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 
7
is led by Grand Knight James R. Sponder; the group was started 
8
in 1957 by about 20 members at St. Stephen's Church in Joliet; 
9
there are over 200 members today; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 
11
members hold annual family picnics, children's Christmas 
12
parties, a weekly fish fry, a corned beef dinner, and many 
13
other activities; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Throughout the years Knights of Columbus Holy 
15
Trinity Council #4400 has supported Knights' charitable causes 
16
worldwide, including raising funds for disaster victims and 
17
different charities; their work in the community includes 
18
helping Cornerstone, United Cerebral Palsy of Will County, 
19
Maternity Services, and other groups; the main fundraisers of 
20
the year are the Annual Fish Fry and Tootsie Roll drive, 
21
benefitting mentally handicapped and mentally challenged 
22
citizens; and

    WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 
2
have provided funds to the Joliet Catholic Academy and 
3
Providence High School; they have also sponsored a team for 
4
many years with Belmont Little League in Joliet; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, For 50 years the men of the Knights of Columbus 
6
Holy Trinity Council #4400 have served their church and their 
7
community, dedicated to the principles of charity, honor, 
8
fraternity, and patriotism and providing service to those in 
9
need; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate the men of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity 
13
Council #4400 on the occasion of their 50th anniversary; and be 
14
it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to James Sponder, Grand Knight of the Knights of 
17
Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 in Joliet as a symbol of 
18
our respect.
