HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The students of School District 28 in Northbrook 
3
are hosting a "Concert for Africa" on February 9, 2007, to 
4
raise money for the construction of a girls' high school in 
5
Kenya; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Over the past three years, the students of School 
7
District 28 have been committed to helping African students; 
8
and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Through a variety of fundraisers, the students 
10
have raised money for students who attend the Spurgeons School 
11
in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, The students of School District 28 are now focused 
13
on helping to build a high school for girls who live in the 
14
Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, The school, located in the Kenyan countryside, 
16
will allow girls to continue their education beyond the eighth 
17
grade; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Students will learn valuable skills that will 
19
allow them to become independent and escape the cycle of 
20
poverty; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
recognize the efforts of the students of School District 28 in 
4
Northbrook for their compassion and dedication to helping 
5
others; and be it further

 
6
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to the students of School District 28 in Northbrook 
8
as an expression of our esteem.
