HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor Mary Ellen "Mimi" 
4
Reitemeier of Danville on being named a recipient of the Women 
5
of Distinction Award presented by the Girl Scouts Green Meadows 
6
Council; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Women of Distinction are recognized for 
8
outstanding leadership and service to their community and/or 
9
profession, while serving as role models for young girls by 
10
living the Girl Scout Law; and
 
11
    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Reitemeier is a charter member of the 
12
Danville Area Arts Council and Arts in the Park; she is a 
13
founding member of the Danville Symphony Orchestra and the 
14
Symphony Guild, and has been active in both the Orchestra and 
15
the Danville Symphony Orchestra Foundation; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, She helped the Danville Symphony Orchestra  bring 
17
music to the youth of the community through educational youth 
18
concerts, competitions, and essay contests; she was awarded a 
19
Directors Emeriti title in 2005; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Reitemeier was a volunteer at Lakeview 
21
Hospital for many years, where she helped to raise money and

start programs for the Intensive Care Nursery, well baby 
2
clinics, new parent classes, and babysitting classes; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, She has also served on the Salvation Army Women's 
4
Board, and worked with the annual Festival of Trees, raising 
5
money for Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation; 
6
and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Reitemeier gave her Brownie and Girl 
8
Scout pins to her granddaughter but plans to borrow them for 
9
the awards ceremony; therefore, be it

 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate Mary Ellen "Mimi" Reitemeier on being named a 
13
recipient of the Women of Distinction Award presented by the 
14
Girl Scouts Green Meadows Council; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Mary Ellen Reitemeier as a symbol of our respect.
