| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, 2007 is the 50th year of ministry for the First |
| 3 |
| Baptist Church in Mt. Zion; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, In 1957 a small group of people gathered in a |
| 5 |
| store front and began a new ministry in Mt. Zion; in June of |
| 6 |
| the same year a Mission was organized to form a church; the |
| 7 |
| congregation chose the name First Baptist Church, affiliated |
| 8 |
| with the Southern Baptist Convention; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, With 45 original members land was purchased at 700 |
| 10 |
| West Main Street in Mt. Zion and in November of 1958 the new |
| 11 |
| building was completed and used for worship services for the |
| 12 |
| first time; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, In 1960 an educational wing was added; in 1962 |
| 14 |
| additional land was purchased west of the church and a |
| 15 |
| two-story educational building was erected on the new parcel; |
| 16 |
| in September of 1973 a new auditorium was completed, and is |
| 17 |
| still the worship center for the congregation; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, There have been many different pastors and leaders |
| 19 |
| over the last fifty years, but all have shared the vision to |
| 20 |
| share the word of God to the people of Mt. Zion; therefore, be |
