HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor The Black Women Lawyers' 
4
Association of Greater Chicago, Inc., (BWLA), on 20 years of 
5
providing service to the legal community; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, BWLA is hosting a National Summit of Black Women 
7
Lawyers on March 8-10, 2007 at the Mid-America Club and the 
8
Fairmont Chicago to promote professional and social 
9
development through their shared heritage and experiences; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The theme of the Summit is "Lifting As We Climb, 
11
Our History Demands It, Our Legacy Requires It"; the theme was 
12
chosen to reflect the importance of African-American female 
13
attorneys helping each other to ensure both individual and 
14
collective success in the legal profession; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Black women lawyers are one of the legal 
16
community's most valuable and unique resources and are  key to 
17
the State of Illinois' economic development; and
 
18
    WHEREAS, The BWLA members  are dedicated to providing the 
19
highest standards of professionalism and maintain these 
20
standards through education, mentoring, and personal 
21
commitment; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate the Black Women Lawyers' Association of Greater 
4
Chicago, Inc., on the occasion of its 20th anniversary and 
5
proclaim March 9, 2007 as Black Women Lawyers' Day in the State 
6
of Illinois; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to The Black Women Lawyers' Association of Greater 
9
Chicago, Inc.
