HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 
3
State of Illinois wish to honor the St. Joseph Lady Wildcats on 
4
winning the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic 
5
Association Class S 2007 State basketball championship; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Wildcats overcame a nine-point second-half 
7
deficit to stun the Bartelso Lady Braves 41 to 39 to win the 
8
championship at Rend Lake College in Ina on Saturday, January 
9
27, 2007; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Marissa Runyon led all scorers with a game-high 15 
11
points, her average for the tournament; Samantha Herman added 
12
14 points, including 12 from behind the arc and averaged 10 
13
points per game during St. Joseph's three-game title run; 
14
Jennifer Luna tacked on 10 points, averaging 9 points per game 
15
and tied Herman for the team lead in rebounds with three; and 
16
Carolyn Joseph collected a team-high six assists and two steals 
17
as well as two rebounds; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, St. Joseph finished the season with a 24 and 2 
19
overall record; and

    WHEREAS, The St. Joseph Lady Wildcats consist of Kenna 
21
Benton, Hannah Harrison, Rachel Zwilling, Rachel Mosby,

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate the St. Joseph Lady Wildcats on winning the 
9
Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association 
10
Class S 2007 State basketball championship; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to the St. Joseph  Lady Wildcats as an expression of 
13
our esteem.
