| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the |
4 |
| Glendale Heights Junior Women's Club on the occasion of the |
5 |
| 25th anniversary of the organization; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, In March of 1982 a group of 12 women got together |
7 |
| to form a woman's club in Glendale Heights; the first |
8 |
| fundraiser was a garage sale, and the first service project was |
9 |
| serving punch and cake while giving tours at the dedication of |
10 |
| the Glenside Public Library; 20 years later the club members |
11 |
| returned to the library to serve punch and cake at the |
12 |
| rededication of the library; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, The Glendale Heights Junior Women's Club is a |
14 |
| non-profit club consisting of members from Glendale Heights and |
15 |
| surrounding communities; the members now hold three |
16 |
| fundraisers a year, the Candlelight Bowl in February, the Bingo |
17 |
| Tent at Glendale Heights Fest in July, and a Craft/Auction |
18 |
| dinner in October to help needy families and organizations in |
19 |
| the area; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Beneficiaries of the club's fundraising efforts |
21 |
| include helping needy individuals like Kyle Frankiewicz, a |
22 |
| child that needed a lung transplant; in addition they help |
|
|
|

| organizations such as DUCAP, a teen outreach organization, TLC |

| Camp (for terminally ill children and their siblings), Glen |
3 |
| Oaks Hospital, Glendale Heights Attack on America Relief Fund, |
4 |
| and Operation Smile; in addition the club aids a member who has |
5 |
| an organization to help area homeless veterans; the club gives |
6 |
| scholarships once a year to a needy and worthy recipient and |
7 |
| works with the Miss DuPage and Miss Western Suburbs scholarship |
8 |
| program, by helping out with the contest by being judges and |
9 |
| floor people; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, The Glendale Heights Junior Women are Chamber of |
11 |
| Commerce members, members of the Character Counts Coalition, |
12 |
| sponsors of the Adopt-A-Highway program, participants in the |
13 |
| Glen Oaks Hospital Health and Safety Fair, and they serve food |
14 |
| at the National Night Out event; the club was also the |
15 |
| recipient of the 2006 Chamber of Commerce Community Service |
16 |
| Award; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, The Glendale Heights Junior Women's Club is a |
18 |
| member of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs and the |
19 |
| General Federation of Women's Clubs, an international women's |
20 |
| volunteer service group; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
