1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, On August 28, 2007, United Parcel Service of

3 America Inc. (UPS) will celebrate its 100th anniversary; and

4 WHEREAS, UPS has served Illinois since 1940 and today

5 employs nearly 23,000 employees and manages 238 facilities

6 across the State of Illinois; and

7 WHEREAS, The UPS Chicago Area Consolidation Hub (CACH) is

8 the largest package sorting facility in the world; and

9 WHEREAS, Each day, more than 315,000 citizens of Illinois

10 utilize the express delivery and specialized transportation

11 and logistics services that UPS provides; and

12 WHEREAS, UPS delivers more than 650,000 packages every day

13 to customers across Illinois, connecting people, communities,

14 and businesses; and

15 WHEREAS, The services UPS provides connect the people of

16 Illinois to more than 200 countries through its expansive

17 transportation network that truly synchronizes global

18 commerce; and

19 WHEREAS, UPS has contributed more than $27.7 million to

1 philanthropic endeavors in the State of Illinois since 1995,

2 reflecting the company's emphasis on community service and

3 citizenship; and

4 WHEREAS, UPS will continue to both provide a substantial

5 economic impact to the people of Illinois and focus on

6 cultivating deep partnerships with the communities it serves;

7 therefore, be it

8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

9 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That we

10 congratulate the men and women of United Parcel Service of

11 America Inc. (UPS) on the 100th anniversary of the company; and

12 be it further

13 RESOLVED, That we recognize and celebrate the

14 contributions by UPS to the people of the State of Illinois

15 both economically and philanthropically; and be it further

16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

17 presented to a representative of UPS as a symbol of our esteem.
