| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Students of Harry D. Jacobs High School in |
| 3 |
| Algonquin were inspired to participate in the 2006-2007 Project |
| 4 |
| Ignition program; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Project Ignition, sponsored by State Farm and |
| 6 |
| coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council, gives |
| 7 |
| high school students and their teachers a unique opportunity to |
| 8 |
| work together in addressing the critical issues of teen driver |
| 9 |
| safety and how it affects them, their community, and the world |
| 10 |
| around them; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The Jacobs High School team, including 12 students |
| 12 |
| and 4 teachers designed the "In the Blink of an Eye - Think |
| 13 |
| Before You Drive" public service campaign to increase safe |
| 14 |
| driving among teenagers, reduce the number of teen-related |
| 15 |
| crashes, and create community awareness for various |
| 16 |
| transportation concerns; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The team's teen-to-teen campaign incorporates |
| 18 |
| numerous projects and school-wide and community-wide |
| 19 |
| initiatives targeting all forms of dangerous driving; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, The Jacobs High School Project Ignition team has |
| 21 |
| been selected as one of ten finalists from across the country, |
|

| winning a $5,000 stipend from State Farm to travel to the |
| 2 |
| National Youth Leadership Council's 18th Annual National |
| 3 |
| Service-Learning Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico in |
| 4 |
| March 2007, to present their "In the Blink of an Eye - Think |
| 5 |
| Before You Drive" program before an international audience and |
| 6 |
| a renowned panel of judges; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The Jacobs High School team will compete for the |
| 8 |
| national "Best of the Best" award and a grant of $10,000 to be |
| 9 |
| used to continue the project; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, The State of Illinois proudly recognizes the |
| 11 |
| dedication and hard work by this outstanding team, and commends |
| 12 |
| all those involved in making this project a success and in |
| 13 |
| making a positive difference in our communities and across the |
| 14 |
| State; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 |
| congratulate the students and faculty of Harry D. Jacobs High |
| 18 |
| School for their award-winning Project Ignition campaign, "In |
| 19 |
| the Blink of an Eye - Think Before You Drive," promoting teen |
| 20 |
| driving safety; and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to the teachers and students of the Project Ignition |
