HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 
3
State of Illinois wish to congratulate the Breese Central Lady 
4
Cougars on winning the Illinois High School Association Class A 
5
State Basketball Championship; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars achieved a 47 to 41 comeback win 
7
over  Rochester in the championship game on Saturday, February 
8
24, 2007 at Redbird Arena on the Illinois State University 
9
campus; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars received an outstanding 
11
performance by Lauren Budde, the unofficial MVP, who erupted 
12
for 17 points in the second-half, and received clutch shots 
13
from the magnificent seven, consisting of Ms. Budde, Katelin 
14
Wiegmann, Cassandra Deiters, Britni Holtmann, KC Root, Jessica 
15
Hemann, and Leann Voss; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, The experience and chemistry the Lady Cougars 
17
displayed during their championship run was helped along by 
18
returning everyone from the 2005-06 season; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, The 2006-07 Lady Cougars championship team 
20
consists of Leann Voss, Tiffany Hilmes, Lauren Budde, Britni 
21
Holtmann, Katelin Wiegmann, Cassandra Deiters, Katie Scheer,

Christy Rolfingsmeyer, Katie Robben, Jessica Hemann, KC Root,

Kelsey Netemeyer, and Courtney Strieker; and

    WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars are led by head coach Nathan 
4
Rueter and assistant coaches Kelly Hasherder and Angie Witte; 
5
the athletic trainer is John Attaway and Amanda Jackson serves 
6
as manager;  the school's athletic director is Al Warnecke, the 
7
principal is Kent Jones, and the district superintendent is 
8
Kevin Meyer; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11
congratulate the Breese Central Lady Cougars on becoming the 
12
IHSA Class A State Basketball Champions; and be it further

 
13
    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
14
presented to the school, the players, coaches, trainer and 
15
manager of the Breese Central Lady Cougars.
