HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor Mrs. Judy Hanley as she 
4
retires after teaching for 48 years at Hodgkins Elementary 
5
School in LaGrange School District 105; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Judy Hanley received her Bachelor of Science 
7
degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University and her 
8
Masters degree at the National College of Education; in 
9
addition, she received her CAS degree in Administration and 
10
Supervision from National Lewis University; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, She taught two years in Ohio, teaching first and 
12
second grade; she was hired to teach second grade in School 
13
District 105 on August 31, 1959; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, From 1959 to 1983 she taught second grade, 
15
becoming the Director of the Library Learning Center in 1983, a 
16
position she held until 1992; she went back to teaching second 
17
graders until her retirement this year; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, She has spent fifty years as a teacher, serving 
19
forty-eight years at Hodgkins Elementary School; she has 
20
received many awards, including the Woman of Distinction Award 
21
for Education from the Whispering Oaks Girl Scout Council in

1999, the Legacy Award in 2000, the Millennium Award from the 
2
West Suburban Chamber of Commerce in 2000, and acknowledgment 
3
of her thirtieth anniversary from the Village of Hodgkins; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, Judy Hanley has served as Assistant Principal, on 
5
the Staff Development Committee, the Curriculum Committee, the 
6
Professional Development Committee, and as President of School 
7
District 105 Teachers Association; she has also served as the 
8
treasurer for the Hodgkins School Parent Teacher Organization, 
9
a Patrol Guard sponsor, the Book Fair coordinator, and the 
10
Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest sponsor; therefore, be it

 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
thank Judy Hanley for her commitment to the education of 
14
children, for her hard work and dedication to her field, and 
15
for going the extra mile as a teacher; and be it further

 
16
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to Mrs. Judy Hanley as a symbol of our respect.
