HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of 
3
Chicago was established in April 1917 and began its 
4
longstanding tradition of bringing help and hope to persons in 
5
need; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, In 2006, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of 
7
Chicago served more than 895,000 Illinois citizens regardless 
8
of race, religion, or ethnicity through 168 programs at 157 
9
locations; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, More than 500 Illinois citizens currently lead 
11
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago as an agency 
12
of compassion, competence, respect, and stewardship through 
13
their roles as members of the Catholic Charities of the 
14
Archdiocese of Chicago's Board of Advisors; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago 
16
will begin its 90th anniversary year on April 11, 2007, with 
17
the dedication of its St. Leo Campus for Veterans, which will 
18
serve Illinois veterans as a residence, clinic, and housing for 
19
persons with disabilities and job training; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

wish to congratulate Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of 
2
Chicago for 90 years of outstanding service to the people of 
3
Illinois; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That Wednesday, April 11, 2007, be designated as 
5
a day of tribute to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of 
6
Chicago and the hundreds of volunteers, board members, and 
7
staff who work toward its mission of service to our community's 
8
most vulnerable; and be it further
 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of 
11
Chicago as a symbol of our respect.
