HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives wish to congratulate the 8th grade boys 
4
basketball team from Grant Middle School in Springfield on 
5
winning the IESA 4A State championship; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Generals defeated East Peoria Central with a 
7
final score of 50-34 to win the championship on February 15, 
8
2007; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, The young men finished their outstanding season  
10
with a record of 25 wins and only one loss; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The principal of Grant Middle School is Kay Dimon; 
12
the assistant principal and athletic director is Rick Sanders; 
13
and

 
14
    WHEREAS, The head coach of the Generals is Tives Gardner; 
15
assistant coaches are Brian Barnes and Steve Fisher; and the 
16
manager is Victor Mayes; and

    WHEREAS, The members of the Generals are Tyrell Bolden, 
18
Phillip Cavil, Tives Gardner, Mark Gilchrese, Tyler Gill, 
19
Michael Greene, Jesse Guzman, Michael Harper, Vontrez Hunter, 
20
Michael Miller, Kendall Murdock, Elan Shuford, Greg Wilson, and

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate the 8th grade boys basketball team from Grant 
5
Middle School in Springfield on winning the IESA 4A State 
6
championship; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the 8th grade boys basketball team from Grant 
9
Middle School as a symbol of our esteem.
