| WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the |

| members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to |

| recognize Jennifer Hudson on her career and accomplishments; |

| and

| WHEREAS, Jennifer Hudson won the Oscar for Best Supporting |
| 7 |
| Actress at the 79th annual Academy Awards, held on Sunday, |
| 8 |
| February 25, 2007 for her debut role as "Effie Melody White" in |
| 9 |
| the movie Dreamgirls; she beat out over 750 other hopefuls for |
| 10 |
| the role; she is one of a very few to win an Oscar for a debut |
| 11 |
| role; and
|

| WHEREAS, For her performance in Dreamgirls, she won the |
| 13 |
| National Board of Review for "Breakthrough Performance", the |
| 14 |
| New York Film Critics Award, the Las Vegas Film Critics Award, |
| 15 |
| the Phoenix Film Critic's Society Award, the Golden Satellite |
| 16 |
| Award, the Golden Globe Award, and the British Film Award; and

| WHEREAS, She first became nationally known when she became |

| one of the twelve finalists on the third season of the FOX |

| television reality show American Idol in 2004; and

| WHEREAS, In the fall of 2002 she started her journey by |

| successfully landing a major role as "Calliope" in the play |
