HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Cleona Howland of 
4
East Alton on her 85th birthday, April 9, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Cleona Howland was born in Calhoun County on April 
6
9, 1922, the youngest daughter of Delbert and Amy (Wright) 
7
Webb; she was raised near Pleasant Hill and graduated from 
8
Pleasant Hill High School in 1939; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, She married Edgar Ray Howland on October 31, 1942 
10
in Macon, Georgia; he passed away in 1994; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Cleona Howland and her husband moved to the Alton 
12
area after World War II; Cleona was a homemaker and the manager 
13
of The Fabric Store in Eastgate Plaza in Alton for twelve 
14
years; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Cleona Howland is a member of the First United 
16
Methodist Church in East Alton; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Cleona Howland is the loving mother of Reyne 
18
(Steven) Pallai and the loving grandmother of Adam Pallai; 
19
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

wish Cleona Howland a happy birthday, filled with love and 
4
memories that will endure a lifetime; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to Cleona Howland as a symbol of our respect.
