HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Illinois 
4
Association of Mortgage Brokers on the 20th anniversary of the 
5
organization; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Mortgage Brokers was 
7
started in May, 1987 to unite the interests of its members to 
8
meet the challenge of regulatory, technological, and 
9
competitive change in the evolving mortgage broker industry; 
10
and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The six charter and founding members of the 
12
Illinois Association of Mortgage Brokers (IAMB) are Donald 
13
Starks, Dea Brennan, Harold Isaacson, Shelly Straim, George 
14
Mitchell, and Sidney J. Marx; the IAMB represents more than 900 
15
member companies which equates to over 9,000 individuals; and

    WHEREAS, The IAMB Educational Foundation, a subsidiary of 
17
the IAMB, is recognized as a leader in education programs and 
18
certification for all levels of mortgage industry 
19
professionals; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, The IAMB Educational Foundation is the designated 
21
education provider for the City of Chicago, providing education

for first-time home buyers and counseling to over 2,500 people 
2
a year; the IAMB partnered with Habitat of Humanity to build 
3
three homes, two of which were in Chicago; in addition, the 
4
IAMB partnered with Southwest Development Corporation in the 
5
renovation of  homes on the southwest side of Chicago; and
 
6
    WHEREAS, The IAMB is partnering with Make-A-Wish in 2007 to 
7
award a deserving child a wish of his or her choice; and
 
8
    WHEREAS, Mortgage brokers are the choice of American 
9
homeowners as the industry originates more than 60% of all home 
10
loans; mortgage brokers originate more mortgages than any other 
11
single loan source in the United States; therefore, be it

 
12
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14
congratulate the members of the Illinois Association of 
15
Mortgage Brokers as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of 
16
their organization on April 18, 2007; and be it further

 
17
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to the Illinois Association of Mortgage Brokers as a 
19
symbol of our esteem.
