HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Leo Clyde Franklin of Prairie du Rocher has been a member of St. Joseph Post 622 of the American Legion for sixty-one years; and

WHEREAS, In his role as chaplain, Mr. Franklin has, for five decades, prayed the final prayers of respect, honor, and gratitude at the graveside of his comrades, those who have fallen as they paid down the supreme sacrifice for their countrymen, as well as those who have returned from their service to civilian life; and

WHEREAS, In his role as chaplain, Mr. Franklin has, on behalf of the soldiers and sailors of his country, spoken the last comforting words to his comrades' families, presenting them with the hallowed flag of our beloved United States; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Franklin himself served in the Pacific theater with the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945; and

WHEREAS, All of the servicemen and servicewomen of the Prairie du Rocher area hold Mr. Franklin in the highest esteem and consider him highly deserving of this honor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we thank and honor Leo Clyde Franklin for his service to his country, to his comrades, and to his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Leo Clyde Franklin, as a symbol of our esteem.
