| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ruth Cross on her | ||||||
| 4 | retirement from Naperville Community Unit School District 203; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ruth Cross is married to Thomas Cross; she is the | ||||||
| 7 | mother of four children, Tom, Brad, Scott, and Kennedy, and has | ||||||
| 8 | 10 grandchildren; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Ruth Cross has a long and distinguished career in | ||||||
| 10 | education; she taught 4th grade students at P.H. Miller | ||||||
| 11 | Elementary School in Plano from 1973 to 1975 and taught 4th and | ||||||
| 12 | 5th grade students at Centennial Elementary School in Plano | ||||||
| 13 | from 1975 to 1979; she became math coordinator in Plano from | ||||||
| 14 | 1979 to 1981; she went on to teach 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade | ||||||
| 15 | students in the gifted program at Independence Elementary | ||||||
| 16 | School in Bolingbrook from 1981 to 1984; she moved to Wood View | ||||||
| 17 | Elementary School in Bolingbrook in 1984 to teach gifted 3rd | ||||||
| 18 | grade students; in 1987 she became associate principal at North | ||||||
| 19 | View Elementary School in Bolingbrook; she went on to serve as | ||||||
| 20 | principal at Ellsworth Elementary School in Naperville in 1989, | ||||||
| 21 | and then became principal of Mill Street Elementary School in | ||||||
| 22 | Naperville in 1993, where she served until 2004; her current | ||||||
| 23 | position, from which she is retiring, is Assistant | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Superintendent for School Programs and Services for Naperville | ||||||
| 2 | Community Unit School District 203; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Ruth Cross is a distinguished lecturer, giving | ||||||
| 4 | lectures on I Can Problem Solve for audiences in Illinois, | ||||||
| 5 | Iowa, Michigan, and Missouri; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ruth Cross has been an active member of her | ||||||
| 7 | community; she is a member of the Collaborative for Academic, | ||||||
| 8 | Social and Emotional Learning; she was appointed to the | ||||||
| 9 | Children Mental Health Partnership in 2003; she is a member of | ||||||
| 10 | the Board of the Naperville United Way, as well as being an | ||||||
| 11 | avid supporter of the Naperville Education Foundation, Little | ||||||
| 12 | Friends, and the Heritage YMCA; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, During her retirement, Ruth Cross will work for | ||||||
| 14 | the Regional Office of Education conducting workshops on | ||||||
| 15 | professional development with social and emotional learning | ||||||
| 16 | teams in school districts throughout DuPage County; therefore, | ||||||
| 17 | be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Ruth Cross on the occasion of her retirement from | ||||||
| 21 | Naperville Community Unit School District 203 and wish her the | ||||||
| 22 | best in the future; and be it further
