| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lee and Phyllis | ||||||
4 | Farlow of Camp Point on being awarded the Illinois Great | ||||||
5 | American Family Award at the annual meeting of the Illinois | ||||||
6 | Association of Home and Community Education in March 2007; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Lee and Phyllis Farlow have a long list of | ||||||
8 | accomplishments and activities; they have raised dairy cattle | ||||||
9 | all of their lives; they have been 4-H leaders for 35 years, | ||||||
10 | with Phyllis leading the girls club "Honey Bees" and Lee | ||||||
11 | leading the boys club "Busy Bees", with the two clubs brought | ||||||
12 | together into the Camp Point Co-op 4-H Club; they also square | ||||||
13 | danced, did plays together in the community, and were very | ||||||
14 | involved at Camp Point United Methodist Church; they received | ||||||
15 | the Adams/Brown County Great American Family Award in 2006; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Phyllis Farlow taught piano for about 30 years and | ||||||
17 | has been involved in Home and Community Education (extension) | ||||||
18 | for over 50 years; she was a choir director for many years; she | ||||||
19 | was a member of a small quartet called the "Four Misses" for | ||||||
20 | eight years; she has been involved with the United Methodist | ||||||
21 | Women, where she has taken part in mission work, a children's | ||||||
22 | home, and quilt making, among many other activities; she taught | ||||||
23 | Sunday School for many years; the Camp Point community has seen |

| |||||||
1 | her working on Election Day as an election judge at the polls | ||||||
2 | for 20 years; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Lee Farlow is one of the charter members of the | ||||||
4 | Mississippi Valley Black
and White Holstein Club, where he | ||||||
5 | served as secretary-treasurer for many years; he was a member | ||||||
6 | of the State Dairy Herd Improvement Association
Board and was | ||||||
7 | secretary-treasurer of the Adams County Board; he has
served on | ||||||
8 | the Adams County Farm Bureau Board, Farm Service Agency
Board | ||||||
9 | and held various offices on the FSA committees; he was on the
| ||||||
10 | Golden Locker Co-Op Board, volunteered as an ambulance driver | ||||||
11 | for the
Camp Point Volunteer Ambulance, and is currently | ||||||
12 | serving as Camp Point Township Clerk
and is on the Camp Point | ||||||
13 | Heritage Room Board; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Lee and Phyllis Farlow raised five children; Mrs. | ||||||
15 | Mark (Sandy) Cassen, Sam Farlow and wife, Darlene, Steve Farlow | ||||||
16 | and wife, LeeAnn, Stan Farlow and wife, Dawn, and Mrs. Ted | ||||||
17 | (Sara) Lung; they have 16 grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
19 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
20 | congratulate Lee and Phyllis Farlow on receiving the Illinois | ||||||
21 | Great American Family Award; and be it further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
