HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Theresa Williams, 
4
Elementary Education Teacher for Harvey School District 152, on 
5
her retirement; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Theresa Williams earned her Bachelor of Arts in 
7
Elementary Education from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 
8
1973 and her Masters of Education in Curriculum Design from 
9
Indiana Wesleyan University in 1995; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Theresa Williams has a long and distinguished 
11
career
in public school education; she has worked as a 
12
Elementary Education Teacher for Harvey School District 152 
13
since September 1973; she served as a Chapter 7 Reading 
14
Resource Teacher where she gave individualized instruction to 
15
at-risk and advanced placement students from 1976 to 1977; she 
16
has served as an Intermediate Literacy Coach since September 
17
2002, where she trains intermediate teachers on newly adopted 
18
comprehension school reform models in the areas of reading and 
19
writing, as well as providing staff development and in service 
20
training sessions; and

 
21
    WHEREAS, Theresa Williams has been involved in many 
22
education-based organizations; she served as the HEA Special

Services Chairperson from 1978 to 1982; she was the HEA Vice 
2
President and IPACE Chairperson from 1985 to 1988; she served 
3
on the Planning Committee for the District 152 Back to School 
4
parade and fair in 1990; she served on various state committees 
5
for the IEA from 1985 to 1995; she was the Chairperson for 
6
Friendship Night for the NEA convention in July 2000; and she 
7
served as the HEA President from 2002 to 2005; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, A retirement celebration will be held in Theresa's 
9
honor on May 18th, 2007; therefore, be it

 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate Theresa Williams on her many years of service to 
13
Harvey School District 152 and wish her continued success and 
14
happiness in her retirement years; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Theresa Williams as a symbol of our esteem and 
17
respect.
