| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Stan Ommen joined State Farm in 1997 and currently | ||||||
| 3 | serves as Chief Executive Officer of State Farm Bank in | ||||||
| 4 | Bloomington; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS,
Mr. Ommen spent the first 34 years of his | ||||||
| 6 | professional life working in the banking industry for Champion | ||||||
| 7 | Federal Savings and Loan Association, which became First of | ||||||
| 8 | America Bank in 1993; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, During his time with Champion Federal, Mr. Ommen | ||||||
| 10 | worked his way from the loan service area in 1963 to Senior | ||||||
| 11 | Vice President in 1976 and in 1985 was named Executive Vice | ||||||
| 12 | President, a title he held until 1993 when he was appointed | ||||||
| 13 | President and Chief Operating Officer with First of America; | ||||||
| 14 | and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, In 1995, Mr. Ommen was named President and Chief | ||||||
| 16 | Executive Officer and then Regional President in 1995; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen earned a Bachelor's degree from Illinois | ||||||
| 18 | State University and a Master's degree from the University of | ||||||
| 19 | Illinois at Urbana; he currently serves as a representative of | ||||||
| 20 | the Financial Services Roundtable, Chair of the Identity Theft | ||||||
| 21 | Assistance Center (ITAC), a member of the executive council for | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the National Housing Policy Council, and the Board of Directors | ||||||
| 2 | for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and the | ||||||
| 3 | Social Compact; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen has been an active member of McLean | ||||||
| 5 | County and currently serves as trustee of Illinois State | ||||||
| 6 | University and chairman of the Illinois State University | ||||||
| 7 | Foundation; his commitment to public service has also been | ||||||
| 8 | demonstrated through service on the Boards of Directors of | ||||||
| 9 | Westminster Village Retirement Facility, McLean County | ||||||
| 10 | Historical Society, Mennonite College of Nursing, McLean | ||||||
| 11 | County Chamber of Commerce, and the McLean County Economic | ||||||
| 12 | Development Council; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen received the Presidential Volunteer | ||||||
| 14 | Service Award in 2006 for his volunteer efforts on both local | ||||||
| 15 | and national levels; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Stan Ommen on his retirement from State Farm Bank | ||||||
| 19 | and thank him for a lifetime of service to his community and | ||||||
| 20 | the citizens of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to Mr. Stan Ommen as a symbol of our respect.
