HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization Illinois Affiliate is a vital lifeline providing hope, empowerment, education, and perseverance in the face of a disease that touches millions; and

WHEREAS, Founded in Chicago in 1978 by two breast cancer patients, Y-ME now serves as the nation's premier resource for breast cancer information, education, and support; and

WHEREAS, With nearly 20,000 women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year alone, the demand for services and support of Y-ME is critical; and

WHEREAS, The Y-ME Organization provides immediate, relevant, and free-of-charge services to people who have been touched by breast cancer either personally or through a loved one; and

WHEREAS, Y-ME has successfully reached thousands of women and their families throughout the State of Illinois and is committed to increasing access to breast cancer resources in under-served communities; and

WHEREAS, Y-ME Illinois continues to provide the leadership necessary to fulfill its mission of lessening the impact of breast cancer, creating breast cancer awareness, and ensuring that no one faces breast cancer alone; and

WHEREAS, On June 3, 2007, Y-ME Illinois will hold its first annual Breast Cancer Walk in Springfield, Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare June 3, 2007 to be "Y-ME Illinois Day".
