| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, As of May 31, 2007, the General Assembly and the |
| 3 |
| Governor have not reached a consensus on the State of Illinois |
| 4 |
| Fiscal Year 2008 State budget; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, After May 31, the General Assembly will be deemed |
| 6 |
| in overtime session, which requires a three-fifths vote of the |
| 7 |
| members in each chamber to pass legislation that includes an |
| 8 |
| effective date before June 1 of the next calendar year; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Reaching a consensus on a State budget and any |
| 10 |
| remaining substantive issues requires the legislative leaders |
| 11 |
| and the Governor to be consistently present in Springfield to |
| 12 |
| negotiate on the budget and remaining associated issues; |
| 13 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 |
| the Governor reside in Springfield ready to negotiate during |
| 17 |
| the General Assembly's scheduled overtime session and any |
| 18 |
| special session days filed pursuant to gubernatorial |
| 19 |
| proclamation.
