| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Shirley LeClere on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of her retirement from Nicholson Elementary School | ||||||
| 5 | and on her new position at the Regional Office of Education of | ||||||
| 6 | Kane County; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Shirley LeClere was born in Chicago; she was one | ||||||
| 8 | of six children; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Shirley LeClere attended college at Waubonsee | ||||||
| 10 | Community College, where she took early childhood classes; | ||||||
| 11 | while at WCC, she worked as a Head Start teacher assistant, | ||||||
| 12 | then progressed through the ranks to become a Lead
Teacher, | ||||||
| 13 | Center Director, Parent Coordinator, and
Head Start Director; | ||||||
| 14 | she then transferred to Aurora College, where she earned her | ||||||
| 15 | B.A. in education in 1983; after graduating she left the
Head | ||||||
| 16 | Start Program to begin interviewing for a public
school | ||||||
| 17 | position; on Father's Day weekend in June 1983,
she was called | ||||||
| 18 | to interview at Smith Elementary School; for the next
several | ||||||
| 19 | years she taught third and fourth grades before being
asked to | ||||||
| 20 | move to a kindergarten teaching position; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, After a couple of years Shirley LeClere was asked | ||||||
| 22 | to work as
a part time Kindergarten/Administrative Assistant; | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | instead of taking the position, she went back to school to
get | ||||||
| 2 | her M.A. in education with a minor in Gifted Education, which | ||||||
| 3 | she earned in 1988; she continued her
education by getting | ||||||
| 4 | certified as an Administrator; she became Principal of Smith | ||||||
| 5 | Elementary in 1994; she remained at Smith Elementary until her | ||||||
| 6 | move to Nicholson Elementary School in 2002; while at | ||||||
| 7 | Nicholson, under her leadership, the school was
designated by | ||||||
| 8 | the State as a Spotlight School for
Achievement and Academic | ||||||
| 9 | Performance; she was principal of Nicholson until 2007, when | ||||||
| 10 | she accepted a position at the Regional Office of Education of | ||||||
| 11 | Kane County; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Shirley LeClere has maintained an active | ||||||
| 13 | involvement in her community; she is a member of the Districts | ||||||
| 14 | Pro Gro Committee; she is a TESA trainer; she has been an Even | ||||||
| 15 | Start teacher and director; she hosted the 1st annual District | ||||||
| 16 | 129 reading symposium; she has been involved with the Golden | ||||||
| 17 | Oaks Supervisory Board; she hosted the 1st annual Health | ||||||
| 18 | Awareness Fair; she has been the director of the City of Aurora | ||||||
| 19 | Summer School Program; she is a member of Phi Beta Kappa; she | ||||||
| 20 | is a member of ASCD; she has been a Coordinator of the TAOEP; | ||||||
| 21 | she is a Golden Apple recipient; she received a Kane County | ||||||
| 22 | Nomination for Educator of the Year; and she has been an Aurora | ||||||
| 23 | University Adjunct Professor in the MARI
program; and
| ||||||
| 24 | WHEREAS, Shirley LeClere's dedication to her profession | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and triumph over personal adversity are truly a model for the | ||||||
| 2 | people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | congratulate Shirley LeClere on her retirement from Nicholson | ||||||
| 6 | Elementary School and on her new position at the Regional | ||||||
| 7 | Office of Education of Kane County, and wish her continued | ||||||
| 8 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to Shirley LeClere as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 11 | respect.
