| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kathryn |
| 4 |
| Irene Evans (LaPlante) of St. Anne, who passed away on June 23, |
| 5 |
| 2007; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Evans was born in Lake County on October 27, |
| 7 |
| 1976; she attended school at Grass Lake Grade School in |
| 8 |
| Antioch, Astoria Grade School in Astoria, graduated from Emmons |
| 9 |
| Grade School in Antioch, and graduated from Antioch High School |
| 10 |
| in 1994; Katie earned a bachelors degree at St. Cloud State in |
| 11 |
| St. Cloud, Minnesota in 1998, and a masters in public health |
| 12 |
| from Florida International University in North Miami, Florida |
| 13 |
| in 2006; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Evans spent her life in service to others; |
| 15 |
| serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2000-2002 in |
| 16 |
| Bangladesh; at the Greater Chicago Food Depository as |
| 17 |
| coordinator of volunteer services from 2002-2004; and in |
| 18 |
| Romania as Project Manager for International Orthodox |
| 19 |
| Christian Charities USAID funded project, "Strengthening |
| 20 |
| Community-Based Initiatives on HIV/AIDS and Family Violence in |
| 21 |
| Romania" from April 2006 until her death; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Katie met John Evans while serving in the Peace |
|

| Corps and they were married on May 8, 2004; John taught in a |
| 2 |
| Romanian High School this past year;
and
|
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Evans was preceded in death by her brother, |
| 4 |
| Richard LaPlante; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Evans is survived by her husband, John |
| 6 |
| Evans; her father Greg LaPlante (Beth); her mother, Judy |
| 7 |
| Shaffer (John); her brother, Edward (Beth); her sister, |
| 8 |
| Michelle Yearout (Duaine); her in-laws, Mike and Linda Evans; |
| 9 |
| her brother-in-law, Jeff (Sheila) Evans; her sister-in-law, |
| 10 |
| Jean Evans; her nieces, Kayla and Hannah Yearout, and Emma and |
| 11 |
| Chloe LaPlante; her nephews, Chase LaPlante, and Aidan and |
| 12 |
| Connor Evans; and her countless friends in the United States, |
| 13 |
| Bangladesh, and Romania; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of |
| 17 |
| Kathryn Irene Evans (Katie); and be it further
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 |
| presented to her family as a symbol of our sympathy.
