| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Ashland was established by the Illinois General |
| 3 |
| Assembly in 1857; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Ashland grew in size rapidly due to the productive |
| 5 |
| capacity of the surrounding farmland, the presence of two |
| 6 |
| intersecting railroads, and the hard work and perseverance of |
| 7 |
| it's early pioneers and settlers; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The citizens of Ashland are grateful to the early |
| 9 |
| pioneers and settlers for their important role in founding the |
| 10 |
| village and continue to take great pride in the village's |
| 11 |
| natural and historic treasures; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Ashland is honoring the 150th anniversary of being |
| 13 |
| formed as a village by the General Assembly of the State of |
| 14 |
| Illinois and is recognizing the hard work and dedication of |
| 15 |
| those who have preceded them in history, so that they may |
| 16 |
| preserve the legacy of the village; therefore, be it
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
|
| 19 |
| recognize the year 2007 as Ashland's Sesquicentennial Year and |
| 20 |
| we encourage all Ashland citizens to recognize the many |
| 21 |
| important contributions made by the people of Ashland and the |
