HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. H. Goff 
4
Thompson on the occasion of being named the 2007 Rural 
5
Practitioner of the Year by the Illinois Rural Health 
6
Association; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Rural Health Association is a 
8
membership-based, collaborative association committed to 
9
strengthening health systems for rural residents and 
10
communities through advocacy, education, networking, and 
11
leadership; the  Rural Practitioner of the Year Award was 
12
created by the IRHA to honor a rural practitioner who has gone 
13
beyond community expectations to meet the needs of its 
14
residents; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Dr. H. Goff Thompson is a physician with St. 
16
Mary's Good Samaritan Medical Group; he has been the medical 
17
director of many area nursing homes and of Vantage Point, a 
18
position he held for 27 years; he has also been director of the 
19
St. Mary's Good Samaritan physical rehabilitation program for 
20
32 years; and

    WHEREAS, Dr. H. Goff Thompson became a charter member of 
22
the American Board of Family Practice in 1970; he is currently

recertified until 2009; he received a Certificate of Added 
2
Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine as a charter member in 
3
1988 and is currently recertified until 2008; and

    WHEREAS, Dr. H. Goff Thompson is a lifelong resident of 
5
Mount Vernon; his father and grandfather were both area 
6
physicians, a factor that influenced his decision to serve his 
7
community; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Dr. H. Goff Thompson's dedication to his 
9
profession
  has truly been a model for the people of the State 
10
of Illinois; therefore, be it

 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
congratulate Dr. H. Goff Thompson on the occasion of being 
14
named the 2007 Rural Practitioner of the Year by the Illinois 
15
Rural Health Association and wish him continued success and 
16
happiness in the future; and be it further

 
17
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to Dr. H. Goff Thompson as a symbol of our esteem and 
19
respect.
