| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Vickie Miller, | ||||||
| 4 | Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees Chairperson, | ||||||
| 5 | on being elected to the office of Secretary of the Illinois | ||||||
| 6 | Community College Trustees' Association; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, She was elected unanimously during the
| ||||||
| 8 | Association's annual Board of Representatives meeting on June 9 | ||||||
| 9 | in Chicago; as secretary, she also will serve on the Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | Community College Trustees' Association's Executive Committee, | ||||||
| 11 | with a one-year term that began on July 1, 2007; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Vickie Miller is co-manager of the Miller family | ||||||
| 13 | farm in Indianola and is a lifelong resident of Vermilion | ||||||
| 14 | County; she was originally elected to the DACC Board of | ||||||
| 15 | Trustees on November 5, 1991 and was re-elected in 1997 and | ||||||
| 16 | 2003; she was elected Vice Chair on November 16, 1999, and | ||||||
| 17 | Chairperson on November 20, 2001, reelected on November 18, | ||||||
| 18 | 2003, and again on May 15, 2007; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, She has served the Illinois Community College | ||||||
| 20 | Trustees' Association in many areas, including: as the East | ||||||
| 21 | Central Regional Chair; serving on the Women in Leadership | ||||||
| 22 | Committee, the Government Relations Committee, and the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Education Committee; and she was Alternate Representative, | ||||||
| 2 | 1999-2003; in 2003 she received the Trustee Education Award, | ||||||
| 3 | and in 2006 she received the Illinois Community College | ||||||
| 4 | Trustees' Association Trustee Education Award; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, She is an active member and leader at Calvary | ||||||
| 6 | Baptist Church; she is also active in the Fairmount Women's | ||||||
| 7 | Club, having served as President, Vice President, and | ||||||
| 8 | Secretary; in addition to her community service in numerous | ||||||
| 9 | organizations, she is a generous community volunteer, giving | ||||||
| 10 | her time to the Jamaica school district and as an active member | ||||||
| 11 | of the Festival of Trees Steering Committee; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, She opens her home and historic farm to various | ||||||
| 13 | large groups, including Leadership Danville; she is a graduate | ||||||
| 14 | of Leadership Danville Class of XIII and has co-chaired the | ||||||
| 15 | annual Leadership Danville Ag Day three times; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, In recognition of her dedicated service to the | ||||||
| 17 | community, Vickie Miller received the prestigious Woman of | ||||||
| 18 | Distinction Award from the Green Meadows Girl Scout Council in | ||||||
| 19 | 2003; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Vickie Miller earned an Associate degree in 1970 | ||||||
| 21 | from Monticello College (Lewis and Clark Community College), | ||||||
| 22 | and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | MacMurray College in Jacksonville; she has been employed as an | ||||||
| 2 | elementary school teacher by the Vermilion County schools, and | ||||||
| 3 | also has worked as a private school teacher/librarian; | ||||||
| 4 | therefore, be it

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 7 | congratulate Vickie Miller on her election to the office of | ||||||
| 8 | Secretary of the Illinois Community College Trustees' | ||||||
| 9 | Association and wish her continued success in her future | ||||||
| 10 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to Vickie Miller as a symbol of our respect.
