HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bob Payne of Georgetown on having his songs accepted by TAXI, an independent artist and repertoire company in California that screens music for major labels; and

WHEREAS, Bob Payne has submitted more than 60 songs during the last year; major record companies do not accept unsolicited material, fearing copyright infringement and possible lawsuits, so TAXI listens, rates, and decides if the music is good enough to send to a major label; and

WHEREAS, Bob Payne had two country songs and three country gospel songs accepted by TAXI; and

WHEREAS, In March of 2007 he accepted an award from the North American Country Music Association for country gospel; he has previously won for both country and country gospel; in June of 2007 he won the Illinois Country Music Awards Show award for country songwriter for his song "My Heartache Could Be Healed By You"; and

WHEREAS, He received the Pioneer Trophy in 2005 for promoting country music for over 25 years, and takes the most pride in this award; and

WHEREAS, Bob Payne performed Christmas skits with then Lieutenant John F. Kennedy while serving in the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, During his fifty-year career he has written 600 songs, with more than 60 winning awards; he has written a cookbook, is friends with many country and western artists, and continues to bring Nashville artists to churches in the area; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bob Payne for receiving the recognition he deserves; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bob Payne as a symbol of our respect and admiration.
