HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Lid, whose outstanding dedication to the Carpenters Union as a Tradesman and Officer was an inspiration to all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Bob Lid passed away on August 28, 2007 at the age of 74; and

WHEREAS, Bob Lid was a proud member of Carpenters Local 54 for 45 years, where he served as its President for over 20 years, as a Business Representative for 17 years, and as its Treasurer for 13 years; and

WHEREAS, Bob Lid also served the Chicago and Northeast Illinois District Council of Carpenters as its Secretary/Treasurer for 4 years and as a Business Representative for 14 years; and

WHEREAS, Bob Lid was anchored by his loving and caring wife, Lila, and his three sons, Douglas, Robert, and Mark; and

WHEREAS, Bob Lid took pride in being a union carpenter, and his union brotherhood is grateful because of the passion and dedication he devoted to his "other family"; and

WHEREAS, The 47,000 carpenters of the Carpenters Union's Regional Council owes his family a debt of gratitude for all the hours and days he spent away from his home, attending to the business of the union; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of Robert "Bob" Lid, who will be missed by many and has left his family and his union with a proud legacy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we, along with the officers and membership of the Chicago Regional Council, extend our heartfelt condolences to Robert Lid's wife Lila and sons Doug, Bob, and Mark; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert "Bob" Lid as an expression of our sympathy.
