HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Evelyn Jean Burns 
4
on the occasion of her 80th birthday; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Evelyn Jean Burns was born to James Ibra Burns and 
6
Josephine Wyatt on September 24, 1927; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Evelyn Jean Burns married Gerald Leon Lane on 
8
September 1, 1946;  she is the proud mother of 5 boys, Jerry 
9
(Lynn), Gregory (Jennette), Douglas (Theresa), Jeffrey 
10
(Karen), and Scott (Selena); and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Evelyn Jean Burns graduated from business school 
12
in Springfield and supported her husband in his work as a 
13
farmer, auctioneer, and mayor of Sullivan; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Evelyn Jean Burns stayed at home to raise all five 
15
of her boys, then worked at Citizens Abstract and Title in 
16
Sullivan until her retirement; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Evelyn Jean Burns is known in many circles for her 
18
bright smile, boundless joy, and good humor; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Evelyn Jean Burns is the proud grandmother of

Abby, Blake (deceased), Bret, Christopher, Dustin, Eric,

Jason, Jennifer, Jessica, Jordan, Kyler, Stephanie, and Ryan,

and is the proud great-grandmother of Alayna, Annabelle,

Brandon, Colin, Dirk, Jacob, Lilliana, and Mikayla; therefore, 
5
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate Evelyn Jean Burns on the occasion of her 80th 
9
birthday and wish her many more happy and healthy years to 
10
come; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to Evelyn Jean Burns as a symbol of our esteem and 
13
respect.
